I dunno how many users here are on Yahoo chat - but they have extended it lately. If you use the actual Yahoo chat program, then it has been upgraded, to show not just your contacts - but in a series of pop-up windows, the Yahoo names of the people they have been chatting with lately - EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT ONLINE WHEN YOU LOOK!
This means that if you have Yahoo'ed with someone years ago, so you're in their contact list, and you have now set your list so they can't see when you are online - they can merrily browse the Yahoo profiles of all the other people you've been chatting with. Effectively this means that as an indie or agency op, you can end up having had a chat session with client A, a guy with a Yahoo profile that's un-hidden - and Client B, who has a chat with you, can find and read Client A's Yahoo profile.
Very very very bad. |

Thanks Dok |

it's not entirely consistent - there seem to be sub-groups of Yahoo ID's which may or may not show you their chat partners. Furthermore, the alleged chat status isn't current - it says "chatting with shrivelledwilly99" and that could have been days ago.
A few chat-mates on Y are tearing their hair out over suppressing the bloody thing. |
